Joshua Light

Joshua Light has had a love for the outdoors from an early age. Growing up in the mountains of Tennessee, Joshua quickly became an outdoor enthusiast. His early adventures included everything from being a river raft guide to an avid mountain biker. Hiking and camping were also common activities for Joshua. These outdoor experiences created a respect for the environment that remains vital throughout his career. While pursuing a degree in Biology, Joshua decided to enroll in The National Outdoor Leadership School. NOLS, as it’s commonly called, is an outdoor education school based in the U.S., dedicated to teaching environmental ethics, technical outdoor skills, safety and judgment, and leadership on extended wilderness expeditions.

The training Joshua received at NOLS was a springboard in Joshua’s advocacy for the outdoors. Joshua moved to Florida in 2013 to work with Gray Logging L.L.C. and was responsible for overseeing the day to day operations. He gained critical on-the-job training and also became a certified master logger. The culmination of his training and experience granted Joshua an awareness of the balance between timber harvesting and land stewardship. In 2014, Joshua became Director of Operations for Genesis Timber. Joshua is a member of the Southeastern Wood Producers Association and the Florida Forestry Association. Joshua always has time for adventures with his wife Megan and two wonderful children, Hannah and Benaiah. The Light family loves to vacation in the mountains, hike, and eat ice cream.
